This problem has spiraled out of control. It's a total fiasco. We've tried everything to fix it, but nothing seems to work. At this point, it feels like we're hopelessly stuck. Frankly, I don't know what else to do. This is a nightmare of epic proportions.

But then, you remember that it's not really actually that amusing. It's just plain horrifyingly awful. And the laughter you were experiencing morphs into a groan.
After all is said and done, you are left with a sense of utter perplexity. You wonder about the meaning of it all. Was this intended to be funny?
Or were we just living in a simulation gone wrong?

Dreadful Day Ever

It all started out badly with a simple mishap/incident/screw-up. But then it went from bad to absolutely terrible. A series/chain/cascade of unfortunate/awful/disastrous events unfolded/occurred/piled on top each other, leaving me feeling like I was in a nightmare/horror movie/comedy of errors. It's the kind of situation where you just want to throw your hands up.
